Composer/ Media Composer
Ireland
After studying sound engineering and music technology I worked for a time in the area of live sound engineering before deciding to concentrate on composition. I have been playing guitar and keyboards for nearly twenty years and have qualifications in music theory and guitar from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. I have also undertaken specially commissioned work for people.
I have recently completed a course in Multimedia composition with Music For The Media and through this I have gained valuable experience which will enable me to deliver a quality soundtrack for any project.
Studio
My home studio is based around Cakewalk Sonar 6 Producer Edition sequencer. Using this software allows me to deliver the finished project in numerous formats including surround sound mixes. It also allows for quicktime video to be run along with the music, making the process of writing to picture much simpler. It is also possible to export quicktime video with sound dubbed on for quick reference. While most of the studio is in the digital domain I still use some analogue equipment for the unique sound it adds.
The availability of a wide range of software synths and other software instruments in addition to acoustic instruments means that I can tackle a wide range of musical styles. The studio is also equipped for recording live instruments and musical scores can also be prepared where required.
Style
I am comfortable writing in any style and with a varied background in different styles of both composition and performance I have experience with various styles of music. I have worked with Irish composer John Buckley in the past and had a composition performed by members of the National Symphony orchestra of Ireland.
