ICT Systems Manager at Silverbank Park
Rochester, United Kingdom
Hi my names Darren Straight I’m a technology enthusiast and love blogging and photography. I currently work as an ICT Systems Manager for a School in Chatham (Kent - UK) where I provide essential services to staff and pupils by supporting the practical organisation and delivery of ICT education within the school for the Medway Council. Before this I was working at McDonalds between June 2004 and November 2008 where I gained valuable business knowledge and skills both hands on and by attending various courses, in this time I was a Crew Member, a Crew Trainer and a Shift Running Floor manager.
As well as working at McDonalds between September 2004 and July 2007 I was also studying at the University of Kent for a BSc (Hons) Degree in Information Technology and a FdSc Foundation Degree Information Technology. On my courses I had the chance to work as an IT Consultant at the Kent IT Clinic (KITC) and work as part of the IT Helpdesk at Maidstone Borough Council.
Being a University Student also gave me the chance between October 2006 and July 2007 to become a Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) for Microsoft UK, in this time I gained many new friends and learnt many new things. My time as a MSP was a very valued one to say the least. It was a great experience.
Though I am no longer classified as a MSP I am classified as Microsoft Student Partner Alumni and am a current Windows Live Butterfly Expert for Microsoft, this of which has again gave me the chance to meet many new people and learn many new things. While doing this I have the opportunity to Video Interview Phil Holden who used to be the Director of Windows Live for Microsoft and have also had the opportunity to be on the front page of The East Kent Gazette Newspaper with the headlines “Darren’s a techno pioneer”. .
