As the worlds of voice, data and video all come crashing together, Dan York, CISSP, enjoys working on the bleeding edge of technology in the realm of VoIP and Internet security. With over 25 years of Internet expertise and as a veteran of multiple startups, he enjoys tackling new challenges and bringing people together to work toward a common goal.
Dan is currently the Director of Emerging Communication Technology at Voxeo Corporation where he is evaluating new communication technology, leading Voxeo's efforts to move into social media and assisting with VoIP security efforts. Dan has authored several books on Linux and networking, written numerous articles for technical magazines and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He co-founded the nonprofit Linux Professional Institute, served on the board of directors for Linux International and previously worked for the CTO of Mitel focused on VoIP security and emerging technology. He currently serves as the Best Practices Chair on the board of the global Voice over IP Security Alliance (VOIPSA).
As part of his long-time interest and participation in online communications, Dan is a strong advocate and promoter of the appropriate use of the "social media" communication tools such as weblogs, podcasts and wikis. His blogs are available at:
