Marketing Strategy, Creative Direction & Writing
Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area
I work with leaders to increase sales and profitability through new marketing strategies, creative direction and writing. My process is collaborative. The focus is on results.
Companies, agencies and design firms work with me to help coin new brand names, position brands, develop integrated marketing strategies — and to conceive and write new advertisements, direct response campaigns, collateral materials and web sites. I am also frequently called to help with social media marketing strategy. To implement projects I can organize and lead teams drawn from an established network of talented specialists.
I work by the project, by the hour, or on retainer. Some clients (e.g., Honeywell, Star Tribune, Martin Williams) have hired me to work on their site to provide strategic support and creative output.

June 1986 — Present (23 years 10 months)
My company started as "Dan Wallace, Copywriter" and I wrote everything from direct response TV ads to brochures to fortune cookie messages. During these years I worked on more than 500 brands and collaborated with dozens of talented designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers and videographers.
In 1994 Messerli & Kramer asked me to represent them as an ad agency, and "Dan Wallace, Copywriter" became the virtual agency "Dan Wallace, et al." Other agency clients included The Bureau and Palomino Euro Bistro.
I started Idea Food in 2001 to provide marketing strategy and marketing communications for companies, agencies, design firms and consultants. Idea Food is also the brand name for two product lines in the marketplace — including SKUs at retail and intellectual property licenses to Fortune 500 companies.
