Development Manager
BBC Worldwide
(Privately Held; 1001-5000 employees; Broadcast Media industry)
January 2006 — August 2008 (2 years 8 months)
My main responsibilities have included line management of between 15 and 20 developers, technical leadership, a lead role in the project allocation of resources from a pool of 65 staff, liaising with clients on a daily basis and recruitment.
I have been the primary advocate for the promotion and implementation of Agile methodologies within the department. I completed an external Certified Scrum Master course in July 2006 and have been actively researching Scrum and other Agile methodologies such as XP and TDD.
I ran an 8 week project towards the end of 2006, the objective of which was to deliver a prototype social networking site. I chose to use Scrum as the process for which to deliver this project. I chose Scrum as the process for delivery for two reasons, I had been trying to pioneer this as a standard and also I felt the project would benefit from the end results of an iterative cycle. -

(Privately Held; 1001-5000 employees; Broadcast Media industry)
April 2004 — April 2005 (1 year 1 month)
During this year I worked on several projects of differing complexity. The key projects included working on an audio book website, an advertising click through tracking website and a contract management life cycle website.
The projects were all developed using mainly Microsoft centric technologies, however NHibernate (a port from the Java based relational mapping tool) was used for data access and NUnit for unit testing. All applications were designed using object orientated concepts and design patterns such as the factory pattern. I was also a key developer in a project to implement a continuous integration environment using NAnt and Cruise Control. -
