Dan Olivadoti's Summary
I have recently returned to the Mohawk Valley area after spending the last 13 years in Syracuse NY. During the time I spent in that region, I accomplished a great many things:
I served on the Board of Directors with several organizations, including the UpDowntowners of Syracuse, Syracuse Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees), CNY SPaRC and CNY Edge.
I was selected as one of 40 out of over 400 candidates for the initial Ambassador program to represent the City of Syracuse from 2008 through 2009 with the "It's All Here Syracuse" campaign. This was an initiative that was supported by Senator John DeFrancisco.
I founded and was president of two major networking organizations in the area; Syracuse Young Professionals (SYP) and Mohawk Valley Young Professionals (MVYP). Together, these groups worked to help over 500 members connect and network between the two metropolitan areas. I was featured in cover stories in the Observer-Dispatch and the Mohawk Valley Business Journal. Features were written in Syracuse New Times, The Good News Paper and Scotsman Pennysaver and I appeared on Time Warner News 10 Now (YNN), WKTV, WSYR (both TV and radio) and WIBX. SYP co-hosted the first (and, to my knowledge, the only) "Teddy Bear Toss" with the Syracuse Crunch organization to benefit the US Marines' "Toys For Tots" program in 2004. MVYP was the sponsor and host of the Hanna Park Concert series for "Utica Monday Nite" in 2005.
I was a founding member of the Central New York Community Foundation's "PIE Project" (now known as the "Future Fund") and was involved in the planning of the initial 40 Below Summit. SYP and MVYP were also the only local young adult networking groups to be invited to Bob Congel's Savannah Dhu retreat to get an inside look at the then newly-announced DestiNY USA project (which is finally coming to fruition).

After working as an Employment Consultant on the OASAS-funded employment program from November 2006 to January 2007, I was promoted to the Program Coordinator. My first initiative was to create an employment agency concept which rolled out in March of that year, called 635 Staffing. This was supported by a full promotional campaign. Directly supervised two staff members. Provided intensive job readiness training and career assessment counseling to individuals facing barriers to employment. Developed partnerships with employers throughout Syracuse and Onondaga County to create job opportunities for consumers. Increased awareness of our services by making presentations and interacting with NYS OASAS-certified treatment providers. Maintained accurate case notes and statistics to meet funding requirements.
Funding was cut statewide in March 2009 for all OASAS employment programs. From that time, I then assisted individuals who were seeking to obtain ACCES-VR (formerly VESID) services. I hosted weekly informational sessions and orientations, scheduled one-on-one intake interviews, completed applications for processing and made professional recommendations for every potential applicant file.
