Dan Khan is the CTO and founding partner of online jewellery retailer 1791 Diamonds, which launched in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK in 2008/9.
Having worked in fast-paced web technology startups, Dan knows what it takes to make an online start-up work - from sweat equity and early stage concept, through to rapid technical development and ongoing operational maintenance. Dan has over 12 years of international experience working with NZ businesses and successful high-traffic web start-ups in the UK.
Dan is active in advancing the design industry in New Zealand - he recently helped set up a community of over 200 developers, and publishes technical articles and presentations, often to tertiary institutions in Auckland for both staff and students.
Dan is a professional member of the Designer's Institute of New Zealand; holds a multi-award-winning 1st class Master of Software Engineering degree (MEng) from the UK's University of Sheffield; and he sits on Natcoll's curriculum advisory board to assist assembling courses relevant to industry.
Dan is a 'software hacker'; working flexibly at all levels of business by day; and hacking away at his own hobby projects through the night.
