I have a rich work history in multiple settings and conditions. I spent 7 years in aviation as a Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, 7 years in the US Army as a Behavioral Science Specialist and the past 13 years in Nursing Informatics. My down time is spent as the Media Ministries Team Leader of a large church. We create multimedia presentations for use in-house, stream video on the Internet live and record DVD's of the service.
Working in these varied settings with multiple systems has given me a unique skill set from which to address issues and find solutions. Regardless if the solution demands a hardware solution, software solution, or a little of both - I am equipped to identify the appropriate solution and implement it at minimal cost.
~ MILITARY EXPERIENCE ~
I have 7 years experience as a Behavioral Science Specialist, a mental health/drug and alcohol counselor. This was during the late 1980's and I began using computers to automate the tasks in our mental health clinic record keeping.
~ NURSING EXPERIENCE ~
I have 4 years experience in telemetry and medical surgical nursing, 10 years experience in nursing informatics (combining nursing and computerized documentation), and 1 year psychiatric nursing experience.
~ MEDITECH EXPERIENCE ~
Senior Clinical Analyst using Meditech software. Experienced NPR report writer, strongest in the NUR and ADM modules. Developed strong use of "attributes" in building screens to enable the system to become intuitive for the end users. Developed and implemented a standardized documentation system across a group of 10 hospitals. This allowed staff to be shared between them and agency staff to be able to work at any of the facilities. Developed standardized ways to write complex attributes to eliminate errors and enable more facilities to use advanced programming in their documentation.
