University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    June 2005September 2005 (4 months)

Mentored a SURE student, Anna C. Davis (now a graduate student at Vanderbilt), in a research project characterizing the expression of Titin Novex 3 in vertebrate muscle development, instructed her in scientific methods and techniques, planned her daily research schedule, and co-authored a primary research article resulting from the project.

  • Teaching Assistant

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    January 2002May 2002 (5 months)

Held recitations twice a week and exam review sessions for Cell and Developmental Biology class of forty undergraduates. Held regular office hours for student questions. Graded homework and exams.

(Educational Institution; Hospital & Health Care industry)

    April 2000June 2001 (1 year 3 months)

Prior to graduate school, I studied the role of gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor type A (GABAA-R) subunits in the rat kidney. Techniques: RT-PCR, Western Blots, immunoprecipitation, basic molecular biology.

  • Laboratory Assistant

    Hendrix College

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    September 1998May 2000 (1 year 9 months)

Assisted undergraduates in General Zoology, General Physiology, and General Ecology labs. Prepared all laboratory materials and specimens, setup laboratory exams, graded homework and tests, answered student questions during labs, and held exam review sessions.
