I find mineral deposits & identify high-quality mineral projects. Over the years, I discovered 2 world-class colored gemstone deposits, several hundred gold anomalies & deposits (including a previously unrecognized district), a palladium-platinum-gold-nickel deposit, & several hundred diamond occurrences and deposits with many unexplored cryptovolcanic structures characteristic of kimberlite (http://gemstonehunter.blogspot.com).

  • Vice President of Exploration, DiamonEx USA Ltd

    DiamonEx Ltd

    (Mining & Metals industry)

2006-2008 - As a consultant, DiamonEx assigned a project to me to organize a subsidiary (DiamonEx USA), hire employees & acquire diamondiferous kimberlite (Sloan Ranch) in the State Line district & search for additional targets - I found more than 100 high-quality targets for the company within and surrounding the district (http://discussionsondiamonds.blogspot.com).

Prior to this, I was a research geologist for the Wyoming Geological Survey (1977-2007) & consultant for several diamond & gold companies including Western Archon, Ice Diamonds, Teras Gold, Western Gold Exploration & Mining, Chevron, Echo Bay, Bald Mountain Mining, etc.

Conducted research & geological mapping on Archean greenstone belts, mining districts, gold deposits, gemstones, diamonds, platinum-group metals, strategic & ferrous metals. Published more than 600 professional papers and contributed to 30 books as well as published dozens of detailed geological maps. Also presented more than 400 lectures and field trips to companies, the general public, research institutes & the Wyoming legislature (http://wygemstones.blogspot.com).

Dan Hausel’s Education

  • University of Utah

    BS, MS , Geology , 19681974

Received BSc and MSc degrees from the U of U.

Later I was offered a PhD at CSM from Dr. Sam Goldich - the offer would have required me to conduct about 2 weeks of isotope work at CSM & combine this with research I had completed at the WGS on kimberlites. Unfortunately, I didn't have time at that point in my career.

    Activities and Societies:
Conducted research on lunar samples and also on terrestial igneous systems with high-pressure mineral xenocrysts. Later focused on economic geology.
