Currently serving as the EMS Coordinator for the City of Alameda FIre Department. I perform various duties to include training/education of all staff, designated infection control officer, development of revenue streams, billing, budgets, QI activities, equipment, and supplies. In this current position I have worked on local emergency response planning, disaster preparedness, hazardous materials, and continuity of operations planning, emergency response (to include deployment and rostering).Served as the acting EMS director.
I have held various positions such as EMT-A and paramedic in urban EMS systems (20 years Newark, NJ), emergency department RN, EMS tour chief (overseeing a staff of 30), comm center chief, dispatcher, EMS Director, college professor, and training coordinator.
Author of numerous articles and book chapters, to include chapters on Human Resources for an EMS Management Textbook published by the Pan American Health Organization and Ambulance Operations for a paramedic level text.
I have also served as consultant for various organizations. I was one of the primary consultants to the Pan American Health Organization/Bahamian Ministry of Health, and I was the lead consultant for the Ambulance Service Re-Design for the Hong Kong Fire Services Department.
