My career started on the second Monday after Y2K (my new employers wanted a week to sort everything out). I did server-side, enterprise Java for about 6 years, while I finished my BS in Computer Science. Lately I'm doing .Net web app work on a Scrum team.
At home, I work mostly in Ruby, which brought me to functional programming and Scheme, and re-introduced me to JavaScript. I write on-line at http://invisibleblocks.wordpress.com, about software design and programming. I've found I enjoy teaching people about software and math, and the blog serves as an outlet for that.
I'm one of the original members of the Hartford Ruby Brigade (http://groups.google.com/group/hartford-ruby-brigade). We meet on the last Monday of every month. If you're interested in Ruby, Rails, dynamic languages, or programming languages in general, feel free to stop by.
