After having realized his Maltese dream through these two expositions in 2005, Michel has gotten down at present to a new project: to exhibit his Hebrew calligraphic art. It's a question once again of paying homage to the maternal branch of his family, Sephardic Jews chased out of Spain in 1492 before settling down on the island of Gozo (Maltesan archipelago).
This new project goes back to August 2004, to the time of a visit to Israel. On his return, Michel is all at once deeply moved and filled with love for an historic people formed of tradition, of attachment to the land, of suffering and of pride.
Michel has admired for long the squarish Hebrew letter. During his voyage in Israel, his appreciation of Hebrew calligraphy goes even farther: he discovers the cursive letter, more living, more free and more modern. The initial admiration becomes an obvious and driving will: to master the contours of the Hebrew alphabet to better modernise it to his liking, like he had done before with the Latin alphabet.
Therefore, he begins to study alone and very diligently, for the better of several hours per week. The letters are pleasant to work with and Michel feels again the artistic emotions of his beginnings.
A new world opens itself up to him, with a completely new palette of forms and of signs.
Today, Michel takes Hebrew courses to immerse himself still more in this fascinating culture and to feel again more profoundly the significance of a sign born beneath his fingers.
Calligraphy is the result of a research through matter and form. It shows how important the sign and its proper signification are. Through the precision of natural gestures, the sign emerges from the confrontation with the contrast of colours and the power of shapes which both stabilise these timeless works in space.

For more than Five years, script-sign.com has been an authentic shop-window of the evolution of Michel’s work in the world of calligraphy.
Michel first worked on the calligraphic gesture and had the will to gain maximal freedom in the handling of the feather. At the dawn of this new
century, he now wants to give a new dimension to his creations and inspire the ancient art of calligraphy with modernity. That is why he has
recourse to the multimedia techniques.
