As a four-time entrepreneur, Damien has built his career on making ideas a reality. When he saw hurdles that were preventing millions of people from embracing the power of social and local through a mobile phone, he really had no choice but to tackle it. A powerhouse of energy and innovation, Damien has spent the last several months building Banjo, a social discovery service where users can discover and connect with the people around them regardless of where they are, who they know or what social networks (if any) they belong to. Banjo was awarded the 2011 Ruby Innovator Award by Matz as well as featured as a Heroku success story for Banjo's work in Ruby on Rails and MongoDB.

  After serving in the military during Desert Storm and completing a successful career in NASCAR, Damien founded and managed several successful businesses in the technology, manufacturing, construction, and consulting industries. He also served as a Crime Scene Investigator in Davidson, North Carolina, while working full time in the role of COO for a technology company.

Damien can often be found speaking at conferences on subjects ranging from social media to online accessibility, and believes that all websites should be accessible to those with audio, visual and mobility impairments. Damien enjoys leading teams on innovative projects and has placed first in various hackfests including Google Campout.

From think-tanks and boardrooms to dirt bikes and race cars, Damien is a risk taker who likes his life challenging and fast paced.
