Damian Eads’s Summary

Damian Eads is a fifth year Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Under the direction of Dr. David Helmbold at University of California (USA), Dr. Edward Rosten at University of Cambridge (UK), and Dr. James Theiler at Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA), he develops machine learning algorithms for time series and object detection. His dissertation work theoretically and empirically explores new boosting algorithms for combining ensembles of object detectors. Since 2001, Mr. Eads has been employed with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, most recently as a Staff Research Assistant, working for the Intelligent Searching of Images and Signals (ISIS) team. His software has been licensed to, and commercialized by, several companies. In his spare time, he maintains many open source software packages for scientific computing.
