I have been move to Chicago, USA, to work on the SEAR transformation project. My responsibilities include moving the servers from the customer’s site to the new data centre in Chicago. While we are moving the servers we are also upgrading any NT 4 servers to Windows 2003. Where possible we are moving all servers to a VMWare environment on IBM blade servers to take advantage of the new technology. I have also helped to develop a Patch Management solution with in the Sears account including the deployment of HFNetChkPro v5. While I have been in Chicago I have attended a course on VMware ESX server to learn this new technology, I was also part of a two man team that built the new VMware farm for Sears. My main responsibility now is to support the ESX servers and virtual servers, deploying new virtual servers on a regular basis when required.

I also manage the technical side of any new service that is transitioned into UN1TY. I write all technical documentation and working instructions for the 2nd line team. I have been heavily involved in the Windows XP pilot rollout at Sellafield where I have started to write work instructions for 1st and 2nd line engineers.
