David E. Aiello is a web application developer at Six Apart Services in New York. He focuses on development and deployment of large community-oriented websites based on the Movable Type and TypePad web publishing systems.
In 2007 and 2008 Dave worked for short periods of time at Billtrust, U.S. Auto Parts, and Tablet Hotels as a web application developer.
In June 2006, Dave developed and launched RinkAtlas.com, a Google Maps mashup that provides directions to over 2,000 ice rink facilities in North America. Regarding RinkAtlas, Guy Kawasaki said, "If you ever need to find a rink, this is the site to use. It’s the first mashup that I’ve found useful."
In November 2003, Dave founded OperationGadget.com, an electronic gadgets weblog. He is currently serving as editor. Operation Gadget is a Movable Type-based weblog that uses Amazon Web Services to provide purchase information about products discussed on it.
Dave founded Chatham Township Data Corporation, an Internet application development company. CTDATA develops complex web sites that contain relational databases.
Dave has performed dozens of consulting projects at large and small corporations and non-profit organizations. Clients that he has served on behalf of CTDATA include Bear Stearns, J.P. Morgan Chase, ADP, Schering-Plough, Sybase, and L.L. Bean. His non-profit experience includes work with USA Hockey and Teach for America.
Dave also founded the web publishing consulting practice called WeblogImprovement.com which focuses on the Movable Type publishing platform.
Dave is an NCAA Ice Hockey Official at the Division III level, a USA Hockey Level 4 Official, and member of the National Ice Hockey Officials Association.
Dave received his B.S. in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is married to Kathleen Aiello, MD, a pediatrician in private practice in Ambler, PA.
