During 2006, I worked on a project focused on the front-end system for Visa applications for the Dutch government.I was responsible for designing the messaging system connecting the distributed front ends to the central system, as well as the messaging system connecting the central system to the other stakeholders in the Visa application process, such as the earlier mentioned Schengen VIS system.

In 2005, I joined an international team in Brussels to design the Visa Information System. This system is aimed at registering all visa applications and the decisions on them for all the member states of the European Union.During the last quarter of 2005, I joined a second team in Brussels to design the Schengen Information System version II. This system is aimed at registering all alerts on persons, means of transportation, and/or goods being generated by police officials or border control officials within the Schengen area.
