Cleve V. Tinsley IV’s Experience

  • Director, Ministry Development

    The Church Without Walls

    (Religious Institutions industry)

    August 2008Present (1 year 4 months)

This position is a created one, specific for TCWW context, because of the unique time in the life of the church and its progressive and ever-evolving Pastor. The chief responsibility of this role is to translate and implement the vision of the Senior Minister in ways that manifest his “heart” as a pastoral and intellectual resource across the breadth of ministry services. Additionally, this role anticipates, serving as an impulse for congregational self-scrutiny and improvement as TCWW emerges nationally in its educational ministries and engagement with public life.

  • Academic Advisor, Philadelphia Freedom Schools

Communities In Schools of Philadelphia, PA

    (Non-Profit Organization Management industry)

    March 2008July 2008 (5 months)

Essentially, I supported Junior Servant Leaders (exemplary high school students) with implementation and understanding of culturally responsive curriculum, prepared curriculum derived from the assigned texts, planned service learning project timelines and provided academic guidance to these students in their pursuit of elective credit during the summer. In addition, I supervised and evaluated their performance.

  • Minister of Discipleship and Ministry Development

    Bright Hope Baptist Church

(Non-Profit; 11-50 employees; Religious Institutions industry)

    July 2007January 2008 (7 months)

Hired on an "at will" contractual bases after the retirement of Rep. William Gray III to help transition new ministry leadership to the needed model for current community needs. Some responsibilities included: Organizing and facilitating inaugural Black Family Symposium with various civic leaders in addressing the endemic violence crisis in Philadelphia, PA; Planning and implementing 4 new ministry service projects, including a Social Outreach department and Congregational Care department to improve conditions for those hurting most in the North Philadelphia area; and serving as a de facto Assistant facilitating services, funerals and providing ministerial leadership and counseling.

  • Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Evangelism

    Northwest Community Baptist Church

(Non-Profit; 11-50 employees; Religious Institutions industry)

    January 2002May 2004 (2 years 5 months)

    Significant Accomplishments:

While in first year of full-time service as Pastor to Young Adults & Singles, I formulated, proposed and implemented a flourishing singles and young adult ministry that served a 1,500-member population. In addition, conceived of and led an inaugural Singles Conference, which hosted three city churches.

After progressing to role as Pastor of Evangelism & Discipleship, I was then responsible for re-organizing and improving a weakening Discipleship Department that included more than 12 ministries; and in final project before relocating to Princeton, I modernized the church’s evangelism department, patiently researching and educating the membership on effective witnessing paradigms and methods for the urban demographic serviced by the church.
