Curtis Miller’s Summary

I am a very detail-oriented person who takes great pride in the work I do. I pay attention to details that many people overlook.

I love to share my knowledge with others through teaching and mentoring. I blog at millarian.com and tweet @curtism. I also participate in railsforum.com when I can to help the Ruby on Rails community to grow and succeed.

I think community is extremely important and have been investigating how I can be a better member of the Phoenix community through participation and activism.

I have the entrepreneur bug and have founded or co-founded several internet startups. I will continue to create startups because I'm driven to build useful things.

    February 2004August 2006 (2 years 7 months)

During my time at Raytheon, I worked on a project creating a software infrastructure for a large Naval program. Specifically, I worked with a team dealing with the database and data related software. I mostly worked with C & C++ with a little Java thrown in toward the end of my time there.

I earned my Raytheon six sigma certification and led several projects to improve the processes for the team in which I was working. I was also active in other organizations within Raytheon, mostly the Diversity Council and YES!Net.

I started at Project Technology as a software testing intern for the BridgePoint UML modeling tool. When I graduated with my BS in Computer Science, I accepted a full-time position with them.

My role changed to designing, coding and testing software for a UML model to C++ code transformer. I worked mostly in C++ and proprietary languages. I also worked extensively with the Project Technology UML modeling suite. Additionally I helped to define an internal software process to increase productivity and decrease defects. During my time there I was part of a small team and was therefore entrusted with far more responsibility than most entry level software engineers.

Project Technology was acquired in 2004. Their software is now part of the Nucleus product line offered by Mentor Graphics.
