Programming Ruby on Rails applications for various companies as a contractor.
Responsible for creation of database schema, client and server code using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript, application deployment, and maintenance. Some client side interface written using the Ext JavaScript library. I've been using Rails Edge for these contracts to take advantage of the new features added since v1.2.3. -

Software Engineer II
Raytheon Company
(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; RTN; Defense & Space industry)
February 2004 — August 2006 (2 years 7 months)
During my time at Raytheon, I worked on a project creating a software infrastructure for a large Naval program. Specifically, I worked with a team dealing with the database and data related software. I mostly worked with C & C++ with a little Java thrown in toward the end of my time there.
I earned my Raytheon six sigma certification and led several projects to improve the processes for the team in which I was working. I was also active in other organizations within Raytheon, mostly the Diversity Council and YES!Net. -
Software Engineer
Project Technology, Inc. (acquired by Mentor Graphics)
(Public Company; 11-50 employees; MENT; Computer Software industry)
June 2000 — June 2003 (3 years 1 month)
I started at Project Technology as a software testing intern for the BridgePoint UML modeling tool. When I graduated with my BS in Computer Science, I accepted a full-time position with them.
My role changed to designing, coding and testing software for a UML model to C++ code transformer. I worked mostly in C++ and proprietary languages. I also worked extensively with the Project Technology UML modeling suite. Additionally I helped to define an internal software process to increase productivity and decrease defects. During my time there I was part of a small team and was therefore entrusted with far more responsibility than most entry level software engineers.
Project Technology was acquired in 2004. Their software is now part of the Nucleus product line offered by Mentor Graphics.
