I'm currently a student majoring in political science and journalism pursuing a career in journalism. I also have background in computer science, as it was my initial field of study. As such I am familiar with HTML and CSS as well as having some experience with PHP and a cursory knowledge of various relational database management systems. I am also familiar with content management systems such as Wordpress.
My primary interests are in new media and politics. I've spent time working on get out the vote efforts with America Coming Together (ACT) as a canvasser, and have worked with the University of Wisconsin - Madison chapter of the Campus Antiwar Network (CAN) on organizing and participating in protests.
In the past, I've worked as an author at Splashpress Media's 901am.com, a new media news site. I've also written guest posts at TheMuLife.com (now MuhammadSaleem.com), and worked for ColbertOnDemand.com as a website consultant. I was offered a job as a Scout at the social news website Propeller.com (formerly Netscape.com) due to my top user status on Digg.com, but subsequently turned it down due to ethical issues surrounding the offer.
I was profiled by the Wall Street Journal in the feature story, The Wizards of Buzz, recognized for my influence in social media in their February 10-11, 2007 weekend issue.
