As the Senior Technology Architect with Xperts, my role has been to model proper enterprise architectures for our educational software products. I’ve spent my time developing new products used by our customers on a daily basis. I’ve created a Dashboard product using JavaServer Faces technology that brings together the various entry points to our flagship product. In addition to serving as a customer facing portal, Dashboard acts as a software load balancing mechanism to distribute load across the 9 application servers. I was the architect and developer for this project.
In addition to Dashboard, I’ve built an automation tool to facilitate the migration of data into our product. This solution was developed using the latest Microsoft .NET technology. I’ve also developed a new corporate website using Microsoft .NET technology.

As the Vice President of Technology I managed the technology team at Richmond.com. My initial objectives as the VP of Technology were to evaluate the department staff, flagship product, and internal processes. I saw a need to start clean with the flagship product, Richmond.com, and rebuild the site with a fresh code base tailored to the business needs for Richmond.com. That new product is currently available at www.richmond.com. I rebuilt that site from scratch with a fresh approach to the architecture that drives the site. I was in a unique situation in that I completed a new architecture for a site that already saw 4.5 million page views each month.
I spent a fair amount of time restructuring the internal processes used by the Richmond.com technology group. I implemented a Continuous Integration system and introduced Trac, a web based task tracking application, which we used to keep track of our ongoing projects.

I designed and developed web systems using both SQL Server 2005 and MySQL 5. Throughout my time with CapTech I had the opportunity to work in a team of developers, act as the lead developer, and mentor junior developers.

With Timmons Group I worked on broad range of engagements with local and state government agencies. I spent 7 months with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) designing, developing, and implementing a geographic information system platform for asset tracking and imagery viewing. The project took off within the department and has shifted future GIS implementations to utilize this system as the base.
In addition to my work with VDOT, I designed and developed a framework internal to Timmons Group that is used to develop their GIS applications. This framework was developed using AJAX, JavaScript, Web Services, and Microsoft .NET. This framework has been implemented and deployed to a number of state and local government bodies in the Commonwealth.
