Chris Schauer’s Summary
As the Network and Systems administrator at JHS, a strategic accounting firm, my number one priority is to help our accountants use technology effectively and securely. Every day, I use my 15+ years of technology and communications experience to help the firm get the most from our technology investment while protecting our clients’ data.
I am responsible for both the strategic and tactical planning and implementation of our network, hardware, and software systems. A big part of the job involves working closely with our technology committee to chart our technology strategy and managing the entire process. In addition, I am also responsible for vendor repairs and providing hands-on support to our end users, which gives me a unique perspective of the impact that technology can and does have on users everyday.
As we move into the “paperless” world, I find myself drawing on my experience at Summation Legal Technologies where I helped clients integrate their discovery e-documents into their litigation support system. I am finding that the legal industry has many parallels with the accounting industry in that there is a massive amount of work done on paper that is migrating to the electronic world, making the data much more accessible and usable. Exciting stuff.
