Owner and Managing Director, Cosmopolitan Events
Ireland
15 years experience in the areas of advertising, sales, marketing, PR, event management and negotiating gained both in Dublin and London. I have pro-actively dealt with an extremely varied cross section of clients over the years affording me the knowledge, expertise and capability to deal with just about any scenario! I successfully launched my own company in February 2008 where all the above skills were crucial. After celebrating the first year in business I am continuing to expand it steadily through a degree of press and online advertising, but primarily through word of mouth/ testimonials and reciprocal marketing. Additionally, clients are approaching Cosmopolitan Events to organise events for their personal and professional needs.
Advertising expertise particularly in print media but increasingly in online, sales, PR, negotiating, marketing & affliliate/ reciprocal marketing. Union negotiation. Client services & communication skills dealing with customers and suppliers at all levels. Attention to detail and high level of organisation imperative in every professional role to date and going forward.

Cosmopolitan Events is an exclusive social, personal and professional networking company which currently targets the Dublin and Leinster areas providing a variety of dinners, nights out, lunches, wine tasting evenings, day trips, weekends away and other exciting events for its members. Additionally, members benefit from negotiated discounts with affiliate companies - these include a varietry of retail sectors with from 10 to 85% discounts available to clients. Going forward, the aim is to diversify into other geographical areas in Ireland.
The idea for the company came about as research had found that in each of the above categories, there were separate networking organisations/ social clubs etc. but none that encompassed all of the above for professional people to enjoy mingling and meeting new contacts in whichever area/s they were interested in in a relaxed, fun group environment. See website www.cosmopolitanevents.ie for further information.

As an employee of The Irish Times, I looked after clients in a variety of different areas - Initially Interiors/ Exteriors, then Entertainments, Property/ Antiques and Fine Art, Recruitment and Retail. The job involved Account Managing my clients in a pro-active way where a high degree of customer service, attention to detail and organisation were imperative in order to successfully meet set sales targets and develop to become a Senior Member of the Advertising Department staff.
I also headed up a Bonus Committee where we negotiated, presented and communicated with all Sales Staff, Senior Management and the Union (SIPTU) in order to re-work existing Bonus Structures. Again, a high degree of organisation, communication, presentation skills and attention to detail were crucial in this role.
To conclude, I organised and was involved in the planning of a significant number of events - for example Recruitment and Property Professional Awards Ceremonies, Christmas and Summer parties.

February 1996 — January 1999 (3 years )
I worked in London for The Newmarket Group for approximately 3 years after I graduated from UCD. As an Account Manager, I was responsible for a large geographical area encompassing South London and the Home Counties, right across to Southern Wales and all areas below there. My job involved both telephone and face-to-face meetings either presenting to a group or to individual clients about what Newmarket had to offer (we looked after company group events - from either a day trip to France for 50 employees or a long weekend in New York for 150 employees...whatever their particular requirements were). An example of my top clients at the time included Motorola in Swindon, Wiltshire and The Yellow Pages in Reading, Berkshire.
