I worked on a number of programs to support genetics research. Included in these are a multiprotocol client that could retrieve information and interrelations from a variety of sources; and a larger project called Genome Topographer that managed a variety of kinds of data to help researchers' efforts in disease and population genetics.
During this time, I worked in the early HTML specification efforts, worked as a webmaster for CSHL, and took courses in applied math at SUNY at Stony Brook.

I took undergraduate and graduate courses in Applied Math and Statistics in support of my work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. These courses did not lead to a degree, but they have been very useful in terms of analyzing both systems and businesses.

My AB was in history, and my focus was the intellectual history of east asia. I spent a lot of time working for the Campus Computing Organization in various ways, which turned out to be more jobs-relevant afterwards.
