Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) is dedicated to fostering environments in which gifted adults and children, in all their diversity, understand and accept themselves and are understood, valued, nurtured, and supported by their families, schools, workplaces and communities.

Founded GHF at the urging of clients and colleagues who saw that the population of families with gifted or gifted/ld children who were choosing alternative education was increasing rapidly. GHF has grown to become a major resource for families and professionals worldwide who are interested in giftedness and in the wide array of educational options beyond the traditional classroom. GHF provides education, support, online community and outreach through a variety of methods.
In my role as Executive Director, I manage the growth and operations of the entire organization, including:
* oversight of staff
* fundraising
* grantwriting
* web site development
* seeking and placing advertisements and sponsorships
* writing and editing for the purposes of public outreach and professional education
* nurturing relationships with the community in general, and related businesses and organizations in particular.

Josephine County Renewable Energy Task Force (JoCoRETF) is a citizen task force which partners with city and county officials to promote and encourage renewable energy within the region.
Members of the task force participated in online and in-person meetings to consider opportunities for "green" economic development projects within the county. I worked closely with the Secretary, providing organizational structure, enhanced information sharing and communications technology for the Task Force. I also served on the Solar Subcommittee, working with a team to create solar-based economic development projects for the county.

Served full term as Vice President for the start-up year of JCLI, culminating in the reopening of the county library system's main branch.
Contributed to the development of a viable business plan and helped guide the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status. Worked with committee members to reach out to individual, corporate and governmental stakeholders. Collaborated with the board and senior staff to craft a mission statement and inclusive goals which would address the needs of a diverse community. Other responsibilities included management, communications, business and political strategy, government relations, public education, community building, grant writing and fundraising. Since completion of my Board term, I have remained available to volunteer for specific projects.

The Homeschool Association of California (HSC) is a statewide association supporting families who choose alternative methods of education for their children.
Worked closely with the committee Chair to monitor legislation and court decisions pertaining to homeschoolers in California. Responsibilities included managing government relations at state and national levels, networking with related organizations and coordinating public relations strategy, summarizing issues and providing updates for internal and external audiences, performing analyses to determine potential impact of legislation on state homeschooling, and advocating for HSC members when necessary.

I created the position of Gifted/Special Needs Advisor, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, in order to provide advice and assistance for families seeking guidance in educating their differently abled children. Responsibilities included individual consultation and advocacy, as well as content development and maintenance of the gifted section of the HSC website.

During the peak of National Information Infrastructure (NII) development, I was brought in to 3Com to build a government relations/lobbying program at the federal and international levels. Primarily responsible for advising executives regarding topical legislative concerns such as securities litigation reform, intellectual property policy, and the Digital Communications Act. Coordinated with colleagues at companies with whom 3Com shared interests, managed media contacts, represented 3Com in various associations and committees relating to technology industry, including hosting a conference for the American Committee for Interoperable Systems (ACIS). Attended Congressional hearings and met with appropriate officials to present information, draft and discuss language and impact of federal legislation. Provided related materials for the external website.

Researched domestic and international technology policy, including writing a position paper on telecommunications for the Secretary of Commerce. Wrote briefings relating to the National Information Infrastructure (NII) initiative and the federal budget 'standoff' of 1994, supervised other interns, and contributed to the White House web site.
