Michael Cook’s Summary

I am an executive within Comcast's Office of the CTO. I am responsible for future product innovation and vision, leading the development new products and services we will release over the next several years.

I'm currently concentrating on personal electronics devices through which customers can achieve the maximum benefit from Comcast services. My primary focus is on content portability.

My technical work involves Digital Rights Management, Media Formatting, Video Compression, Storage, & IP Networking.

On the business side, I enjoy working with leading vendors of Silicon Chips, CE Manufacturers, Contract Manufacturers, Software Startups, Retailers, and Content Providers, as the lead in Comcast's efforts to develop a Portable Media Ecosystems.

Prior to my current role, I served for three years as VP of Product Development for Comcast, during which time, I was responsible for a number of new product initiatives.

In a past life, I managed from small to very large software development organizations in a CMMI-Level 5 environment.

I am keeping up my programming skills through graduate classes in software engineering. I'm currenly very capable in: Ruby/Rails, PHP, Java, C, C++. I'm experimenting with a number of embedded linux solutions - building applications in small screen devices.

I've designed a number of commununications applications using SIP, h.323, MGCP, & XMPP

I've been fortunate to have worked with many internetworking protocols such as CORBA, RMI, and SOAP
