I write about sustainable solutions to the fix we find ourselves in as a species attempting to live within our (planet's) means, and I advocate for good climate policy. My goal is to help birth a zero carbon economy.
My background is that of a longtime serial entrepreneur in design businesses. I have founded 3 start-ups, for which I drafted the business plans, conceived, launched, marketed and set up factories to make successful product designs that I created. The three businesses I designed kept food on many tables, and ours, for 33 years.
Seeking out innovation in energy ideas is not unlike the same quest for innovation in other fields, and it is much more imperative that we locate and push these into the world.
My writing is also informed by my brief career as a solar salesperson - when I discovered that I am afraid of heights.
Now I find and advocate for and publicize the many good solutions we can find for climate change, both in great new innovations and in clever new policy ideas.

I write about renewable energy, sustainable solutions and climate policy news by scouring rss newsfeeds, press releases, innovation research news, and company websites.
I condense the technical language in the original research and attempt to make the real implications of the news flow naturally and persuasively for the general reader.

I directly help businesses and homeowners lower their CO2 emissions, by showing them their options for making their own solar electricity, hot water, home heating and cooling - more cost-effectively than continuing to rent it from PG&E in the California Bay Area.

CitiesGoGreen is a very exciting start-up - sharing tips and ideas between cities on how cities can go green.
It is a novel idea in itself to set up to not just advocate for greener municipal organizations, but, from an inside perspective, to actually share tips among cities on how to actually get there with innovative municipal policies.
I have just made my first freelance contribution.

I broke into environmental writing here and completely fell flat on my face. My editors taught me that it is far from enough to merely be a passionate advocate for eco innovation. There's grammar, and so on. I am still learning...

I started a cotton line of garment-dyed clothing thinking that cotton was an eco alternative to the oil-based polyesters prevalent in childrenswear back then.
I enjoyed the challenge of finding sustainable balance by designing a way to make clothing both simply and locally so that both my loyal customers and my 22 super sewing people got a fair deal.
Everything was locally garment-dyed and I retailed them to many wonderful people from my two stores here in the Bay Area.
