Started Codevio to provide software consultancy and design services to companies working with digital media, primarily on the PC, but also in the Consumer Electronic space. I have been responsible for building a network of contacts and clients, as well as scoping out customer projects, and then managing the projects through to successful delivery, on time and on budget. I have also carried out general consultancy work for clients developing new CE products for worldwide markets.

1992 — Present (16 years)
Started working with a remote group of indviduals when there was no such thing as the world wide web, helping put together a small database of movies for the rec.arts.movies Usenet newsgroup. This small database gradually developed into one of the world's first commercial websites, and became a real company, earning revenue from advertising. Not long after it went commercial, the company was acquired by Amazon.com to help flesh out their new video store.

February 2000 — December 2005 (5 years 11 months)
As one of the founders of this start up company I started in the position of CEO, and successfully raised over £1.5 million in funding, despite starting out just after the dot com crash. With my 2 other co-founders we developed a product called ShowShifter, the first 'media centre' application for the PC, and sold it through a number of channels, including direct sales and OEM. The product won many prestigious awards over the years, and was selected by HP Europe as their main media application for all of their PCs aimed at the home market. HMN also carried out a number of bespoke developments for the likes of AMD, Micronas and Intel.
My roles at HMN were wide and varied, and included product design, coding, project planning, team management, sales, business development and strategic planning. I was also heavily involved in the successful trade sale of Home Media Networks in 2005.
