  • Volunteer / Writer

    Loesje

    (Writing and Editing industry)

    May 2007Present (2 years 8 months)

When time allows me I attend writing sessions for the internationally known posters from Loesje, for Loesje in the Netherlands. It's a fun and creative process where we come up with statements for the day to day problems in the society like health care, education, politics, scandals, environment, IT, anything that Loesje has anything to say about. Loesje is a fictional character but with a lot of very real people that want to send a message by putting it in a surprising way, which lets you read it twice and gives you something to think about.

  • Dunamare eLearning project

    Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    August 2008February 2009 (7 months)

The Dunamare community of schools is experimenting with eLearning, and has requested us to help think of gaming concepts in which the student is learning real educational primciples by 'simply' playing the game. There is a serious decline in interest in technical professions, and Dunamare thinks this is due to poor innovation in teaching methods used in schools. By exploring the eLearning possabilities together with multimedia students, we hope to come up with the next generation of serious games, that can be used in stead of traditional books and tests.

I started this initiative with one fellow student, Thijs Bekkema, somewhere in the middle of 2007. Our initial idea for starting the partnership was and still is to develop and market a bluetooth positioning system for medium to large sized events. The goal: to never loose your friends anymore and track them with technology everyone already has: the mobile phone.

  • KIK project

    Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    February 2008July 2008 (6 months)

Together with the KIK foundation, we thought about creative ways to alter the image of problematic youth in the northern region of the Netherlands. Often these young people have real dreams and want to be given the opportunity to better themselves. If only companies believed them a bit more, they too could make the world a better place with their talent and ambitions. We as a team of students were asked to develop a plan to better the image of these people with multimedia.
We did our best and came with a marketing plan that consists of a three phased plan involving a viral campaign, a community website and concepts of real meetings between different groups of people (business, youth, public).
