IDP is a joint venture, half owned by Australia’s 38 universities and half owned by a private firm called Seek.com. In addition to being a partner in the IELTS exam (English proficiency), IDP has a network of over 70 field offices in 25 countries that work with local students and their families to gain admission to private high schools, ESL, vocational and university programs in Australia. Now in their 40th year, IDP has placed over a quarter of a million students into Australia to date and has become synonymous with the internationalization of Australia’s universities. IDP has decided their next area of expansion should be directed to the American market and I will be a big piece of getting this started.
Over the next month, I will be overseas, understanding how the IDP network works and working with their team of talented business analysts and computer developers to outline processes and systems to bring more foreign students to the USA. IDP is making this move at an ideal time driven by market conditions that include:
1) The number of American high school graduates peaks this year. The population of traditional aged undergraduate students is predicted to decrease for the next decade which should lead to a surplus of full-time undergraduate openings.
2) Part-time and non-traditional students are increasingly taking online courses and have been enrolling at for-profit colleges in record amounts, making this a very difficult market for traditional schools to gain domestic students.
3) Worldwide competition for foreign students is increasing and with limited resources, American schools are going to need to find alternative ways to recruit students from overseas.
4) The ethical issues surrounding commission payments for student placement is being addressed by a new organization called AIRC, a certification system is being devised and quality control mechanisms defined. US Federal officials have shown a great interest in the group’s work.

From Sellers to Cellars, ClassicWines.com is a home for people passionate about wine. Founded in early 2006 as a site designed to capture the growing global interest in online wine shopping, ClassicWines.com had steadily become a force in the industry, harnessing the voices of wine enthusiasts and expanding our immense directory of wine. Last month 70,000 people visited ClassicWines.com in order to browse 350,000+ labels in our directory, view twice-weekly updated videos know as Classic Wines TV, and read nine weekly columns by increasingly influential writers.
Due to very tough economic conditions, business operations at ClassicWines.com have been suspended. A planned revised version of the site will emerge in the next few weeks and will continue to operate until a new owner/management team emerges.
Please contact me if you are interested in taking over this venture.

Oversaw the consolidation of the university's sales and marketing into a central office and introduced process and productivity improvements. Executed RFP process to bring Internet lead vendors as a source of prospective students. Cutover a new university web site and implemented an editorial workflow to "publish first to web, then to print." Rationalized two underperforming recruiting methods and focused efforts on improving conversions/yeild. Hired sales coach to rewrite sales scripts and hired integration firm to automate prospective student communications.
After orienting successor and overseeing transition, began the planned 2nd portion of the engagement; that of building a truly global study abroad program. Using Schiller’s international study body and network of campuses in Europe and the United States, the transnational study abroad program is one of a kind, and will position Schiller in a class by itself. Schiller will begin to implement this spectacular plan shortly.
