I worked at the student radio station KVRX as an on-air personality and ended up with a paid position as a producer for KLBJ-AM in Austin, TX. I worked as a print journalist for 10 years (freelance and staff member). I've been a proofreader & copy editor of all things print for the last 10 years.

CERT: CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. Our members are trained to be an extension of first responders (fire department, EMS, police, etc.) until they are able to arrive on the scene. In emergency situations of great magnitude, first responders can be delayed reaching your area. If needed, we also remain on the scene after they arrive to provide assistance. I joined this group to learn more about emergency communications and, of course, to learn more about being prepared in emergency situations.
