Being a student of Jan VanAlstyne was perhaps the single most profound experience of my time at MSU. A world class designer she built her career at General Motors, becoming their top designer. Jane had received multiple awards for her designs, but the ones that stand out the most are her 8 corvettes.
Her instruction is still in my mind as I delve into any problem solving situation. She would say turn it upside down, turn it over, look at it from all directions, even look at it in the mirror. See the problem in a new and different way, and there was a new solution.
undergraduate studies ,

As an avid rock hound these were fascinating subjects, however my eductional interest was in design and structure. After a year of undergraduate work I transferred to Montana State University in Bozeman to pursue my degree in Professional Design.
