The Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship is devoted to the development of new media entrepreneurship and the creation of innovative digital media products.
My primary roles are
1) mentoring new student ventures - from concept to product to launch and funding/commercial
2) Teaching real-world entrepreneurship in a semi-formal classroom/lab environment
3) Teaching cutting edge concepts of digital media, software - including product design, concepts of social networking, mixing user generated content with professional content, and multi-platform digital product development (mobile, digital display, other)
4) Writing and research on media.
The main focus of my work, and the university program is to develop the next generation of journalism (techniques and students) - ie. what news, information and entertainment are like after print and broadcast lose their dominance. This includes new thinking and development of digital content, interactivity, user behavior, engagement, on web, mobile, out of home screens, and set-top boxes - and most important transforming students into lifelong entrepreneurs.
