Chunka Mui is the managing director of the Devil's Advocate Group, an alliance of critical thinkers dedicated to helping business leaders stress test their strategies, with goal of improving robustness and the odds of success. He writes, lectures and consults widely on business strategy and innovation.
Chunka was born in Hong Kong, grew up on the south side of Chicago, and honed both his love of technology and inquisitive nature at MIT. He is the coauthor of two books and numerous articles. His first book, "Unleashing the Killer App: Digital Strategies for Market Dominance" (Harvard Business School Press, 1998), was a widely acclaimed best seller. In 2005, The Wall Street Journal named it one of the five best books on business and the Internet. His second book, "Billion-Dollar Lessons: What You Can Learn from the Most Inexcusable Business Failures of the Last 25 Years" (Portfolio, 2008), was named the best business book of 2008 by The Globe and Mail. Inc. magazine also recognized it as one of the best books of 2008. Chunka has published articles in numerous magazines, including Harvard Business Review, Chief Executive, and Directors and Boards.
Chunka was previously a managing partner and chief innovation officer at Diamond Management and Technology Consultants. Prior to Diamond, he cofounded and directed Vanguard, an emerging technology research program at CSC Index, where he was a vice president. Chunka holds a B.S. in computer science and engineering from MIT.
