A twenty year veteran of both the publishing and video game industries, Chris Ulm is currently CEO and co-founder of Appy Entertainment, an iPhone game developer dedicated to providing blasts of fun for busy people on the go. Appy has released the popular photo boxing game FaceFighter, which has been downloaded over a million times and most recently, Zombie Pizza, the arcade-puzzle game featured in Entertainment Weekly's "Must List."
Prior to Appy, Chris co-founded console game developer High Moon Studios and was co-creator of its original video game property, Darkwatch. As Chief Development Officer, Chris was a key player in building High Moon into a AAA developer and was integral to the acquisition of High Moon by Vivendi Games in 2006.
Chris’ other video game credits include Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. His contributions included major elements behind the story line and game play of Abe's Exoddus and Munch's Oddysee under the direction of Lorne Lanning. Chris and Lorne's collaborative effort on Munch's Oddysee was nominated for an award in the "Excellence in Game Design" category at the 2002 Game Developers Conference (GDC) Choice Awards.
Prior to joining the video game industry, Chris was the co-founder of Malibu Comics Entertainment, the publisher of Men in Black and Ultraverse comics. While at Malibu, Chris served as Editor-In-Chief, overseeing the development of a wide variety of both original and licensed properties.
Chris is often quoted in press articles and has appeared as a featured speaker at numerous video game industry events, including the Electronic Entertainment Expo (e3), GDC, San Diego Comic-Con, and as an invited speaker at the USC Annenberg Western Knight Center Seminars. Chris received his BA in History at the University of California, Northridge.
