I’m an instructional designer who develops engaging e-learning that makes a difference in how people do their jobs. My goal is to create online learning that uses technology and storytelling to draw participants in and lets them practice new skills in ways that will easily transfer to the workplace.

Specialties: Curriculum design, instructional design, e-learning, project management, accessibility, obscure Microsoft Office shortcuts.

Instructional Designer

Syniad Learning, LLC
– Present (3 years 2 months)Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

As a freelance instructional designer, I create engaging learning experiences. I can get know-how out of a subject matter expert's head and transform it into a valuable learning experience for others. I have converted multiple face-to-face classes for online learning. For example, I converted one soft skills training course to self-paced e-learning, adding branching video scenarios for learners to practice the skills in context. I also provide project management and learning technology consulting, including helping clients use LMSs effectively and select the best tools to meet their needs.

Instructional Designer

Cisco Systems
(1 year 9 months)Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

I was part of a team converting a year-long sales training program from face-to-face to blended learning with TelePresence and WebEx. I led the efforts to create a learning portal in Moodle to integrate all of the different parts of the training: content, collaboration, scheduling, and assessment. I also developed sales and technical training.

Using an Open Source Wiki for E-Learning Development Process Documentation(Link)

Learning Solutions Magazine
July 2009

Documenting course design and development processes is an important element of project management and process improvement. A wiki is a great improvement over more static forms of documentation, and as an added bonus, if it's Open Source it will save you money!
