I am a documentary film editor who has been working in the field since 2001. I have worked on many different kinds of documentaries: historical series (PBS, The History Channel), cinema verite indies, news reportage (PBS), promos, music video and reality TV (Gallery HD/Voom).
I have a fine arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design, where I majored in Photography but ended up working primarily in video. Thus, I approach editing first and foremost from a creative standpoint. I also have a background in dance which has left me with a great ear for music and sense of rhythm. My technical training post-RISD was three years spent as an assistant editor and then associate editor at WNET/Channel 13 for various shows. I am a very flexible editor, able to work independently or with a producer, on a variety of kinds of projects, from promos to long form shows.
I can work on Avid or Final Cut systems; I am proficient in Photoshop and do have a basic knowledge of After Effects, though I have not often needed to use it.
I can also edit at home on my own Final Cut Pro system.
