Art directed numerous titles including Digital Imaging, Digital Printer, and created numerous editorial illustrations and magazine covers; contributed numerous articles on tech, design, imaging, and had a monthly column "web works" covering web design issues. Spent three months full time, and years part time, and centuries in absentia. Oh, those were the days!
Certified , Typography, photo typesetting equipment , 1984 — 1984
Certification for operation on/of Compugraphic MCS typesetting equipment used in the graphic design, printing, advertising, and publishing industries in the mid 1980s, prior to the explosion of desktop publishing (DTP). School was located in Cerritos, Calif., and the educators did a marvelous job of explaining the historical precepts for terms like "leading," and "em space." Ironically, the laser printer, Aldus Pagemaker, and Macs (and even Atari 1040ST PCs), killed traditional typesetting and Letraset dry-transfer lettering, but the techniques used on the Compugraphic MCS actually made moving to HTML coding ten years later relatively easy due to similarities in coding of bold, italic, and so forth. Today with CSS used in XHTML/HTML5, it's funny to be again using terms like line-spacing = 1.5em. The best classes I ever took, period.
