Writer & Interdisciplinary Artist
Richmond, Virginia Area
I am a professional writer (www.associatedcontent.com/christinestoddard) with interest and experience in other fields of the arts, mainly acting (www.modelmayhem.com/christinestoddard), drawing (http://forgetfairytales.blogspot.com), and collage (http://christineandcollage.blogspot.com). Personally, I refer to myself as an "interdisciplinary wordsmith" because I constantly strive to find new ways to integrate language into film/video, stage productions, illustration, and mixed media. I try to find connections between art forms rather than creating harsh and superficial divisions. Publicly and professionally, however, I refer to myself as a "writer and interdisciplinary artist" because it is less ambiguous of a term.
Right now, I investing my time and effort in a wide range of creative endeavors and academic work. My freelance projects range but mostly involve writing (from non-fiction to fiction in a variety of genres and forms) but I also act and sell my comics and collages. Outside of creating my own art, I try to help other young artists, which is why I established the Neo-Indie Arts Festival (http://neoindieartsfestival.blogspot.com).

B.A. , Cinema & English with minors in Creative Writing and French , 2008 — 2012 (expected)
I transferred from Grinnell College to Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts after my freshman year. I plan to graduate in 2012, although I am technically a senior now because I took so many AP courses and community college classes in high school, as well as two full courseloads at Grinnell. I am studying Cinema and English with minors in Creative Writing, French, and Spanish. Upon completing my Spanish minor, I am taking six additional Spanish courses to earn a certificate that will authorize me as a Spanish/English translator.
2007 — 2008
The first semester, I took freshman seminar (mandatory for all first-years), 200-level Spanish, 200-level French, 200-level English, one writing elective, and a French conversation elective. For my second semester, I took one 200-level English, one 200-level history, one 100-level art, one 100-level history, a writing elective, and a music elective. Each semester was worth 18 credits total (more than full course load) and since I passed all of my classes with A's and B's, I earned 36 credits for the year.
Dual-enrollment (with Yorktown High School) , English, Mathematics, and Arabic , 2006 — 2006
I took two sophomore English courses, pre-calculus, and calculus at this institution while I was a junior at Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA. In the fall of my senior year at Yorktown, I studied one semester of Arabic at NOVA. Because I was a dual-enrollment student, I did not earn a degree by the credits I earned went toward fulfilling the requirements for my high school diploma, as well as towards my Bachelor's degree when I started my freshman year at Grinnell College.
