The DDFA programme aims to strengthen the international position of Dutch Design, Fashion and Architecture on a long-term basis. For this it brings together the creative strength of these three disciplines with the combined administrative drive of Dutch economical, cultural and foreign affairs policies.
From 2009 - 2012 the DDFA programme office will fulfil the role of initiator, advisor, coordinator and stimulator of a cross-disciplinary programme of international activities in the field of Dutch fashion, design and architecture. Activities will be based on local demand for the specific knowledge, skills and qualities of Dutch designers, following from regional environmental, social and cultural issues.
DDFA is a unique public-private collaboration between three Dutch ministries - Economic Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Education, Culture & Science - and Dutch design organisations such as NAi, Premsela, the Chief Government Architect and several professional associations.

Worked with the Berlage Institute on POWER, 3rd International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, May to September 2007 in the Rotterdam Kunsthal. POWER questioned the future of the city in an ‘urban age’, wherein by 2050, two-thirds of the world's population will be living in urban environments, where the impact and collision of global forces is strongest. What will happen to the city? Who will take responsibility for its future? And what positive forces can architecture bring to bear on its development?
The challenge of these questions was met by proposals from 20 international teams of emerging architects/urbanists and experienced theorists, for cities such as Sao Paulo, Havana, Rome, Beirut, Astana, Johannesburg, Busan and Luoyang. They were presented and debated in exhibitions, publications, lectures and events, and accompanied by a master class on Rotterdam.

China Contemporary in the Nederlands Fotomuseum focused on the emerging visual culture of present-day China, propelled by the rapid growth of digital and print media, and influenced as much by global culture as by local tradition and history. It showed a new generation on a quest of discovery, gathering knowledge and experiences from varied sources, and developing individual voices.
The show brought together youth magazine City Pictorial, Modern Media’s clever glossies, and the epitome of investigative urban journalism, Urban China. It introduced the Chinese equivalent of Youtube, Toodou, critical weblogs, and the mixture of official slogans, ads and informal graffiti on city streets. And the work of artists Ou Ning and Cao Fei, photographers Peng & Chen, designers MEWE, 8gg, Wang Yiyang, Zhang Da and Jiji. Danwei created a China Media Timeline 1978-2006 for the show.

Worked with Adriaan Geuze, West8, on THE FLOOD, May-June 2005 in Las Palmas, about the consequences of global warming for the urban environment. ‘Water Cities’ presented a history of building with water and proposed solutions for the imminent and worldwide danger of flooding, showing Dutch tradition and innovation as well as spectacular projects in Asia and the Gulf.
‘Mare Nostrum’ investigated the worldwide transformation of coastlines into urban strips by mass tourism. Though tourism can strengthen poor economies, its profits mostly go to foreign companies, while original environments and cultures are destroyed. So, could these assets be both retained and exploited? Could tourism be sustainable, and benefit local people? And how could tourist cities become ‘better cities’, with diverse economies and real public space? International teams of architects presented proposals for Brazil, Croatia, Spain, the Ukraine, Taiwan, the Caribbean (Supersudaca), etc.

Its objective is to nurture excellence in visual arts, design and architecture in the Netherlands.
Though fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, the FondsBKVB is an autonomous foundation and its decision-making process is wholly independent. All grant applications are laid before advisory boards, and grants are awarded only after their positive recommendation.
