Greater New York City Area
Chris pursued a dream to support pregnant women and girls in need with real alternatives to abortion and launched Expectant Mother Care, the primary project of The Evergreen Association, Inc, in 1985. EMC was NYC's first crisis pregnancy center and is now also known as EMC FrontLine Pregnancy Centers.
EMC now runs the largest network of pregnancy help centers in NYC, the tri-state area, in fact in the NorthEast US. Chris pioneered the use of onsite ultrasound and pre-natal care in a crisis center in the mid 80s, and introduced 3D and 4D ultrasound in lifesaving work when the technology became available.
EMC offers pregnant women in crisis- free pregnancy testing, on-site ultrasounds, pro-life counseling, onsite subsidized pre-natal care, STD testing, and on-site adoption arrangements, referrals for housing and legal aid, and material assistance.
We have a paid staff of ten, full time and part-time Lifesavers, and many volunteers.
EMC now has 10 fixed sites in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan, and 2 mobile clinics.
Chris launched the first Mobile Ultrasound Clinic, in a major US city, on the streets of the Bronx, Englewood, NJ and later in Jackson Heights, Queens. EMC launched "Operation FrontLine" in late February 2007, and has drawn national, and local media attention to this innovation, such as a November '07 profile on the CBN-700 Club.
From September 26th through November 4th, 2007, EMC led the 1st National 40 Days for Life campaign in NYC, with amazing results. Many new activists joined EMC in prayer at their regular abortion clinic sites for prayer, counseling and vigil.
Chris networks with pro-life/pro-family leaders and speaks at conferences to share his methods of life-saving. Chris organizes unique fundraisers from a cross country Seattle to Brooklyn "Bike for Life" in 1996 (3700 miles), & 3 swims around Manhattan (28.5 miles). Chris & Eduardo Verástegui, film star of the movie "Bella" will develop a strategy to bring mobile crisis pregancy centers to Mexico City in 2008.
Chris grants hundreds of interviews to the press each year.
