November 2005 — November 2008 (3 years 1 month)
As an intern from Nov 2005 - Sept 2006, I mucked around in REST API interfaces, content spidering, Perl log analysis, and various other random tasks. Most notably, I rewrote the Lucene search backend that is still in use today. Also, I designed and coded a Flash-based traffic acquisition campaign for the Demand product.
After Sept 2006, I took a year off from school and the Flash campaign became my full time responsibility in both technical and product management perspectives. As MySpace often came up with new ways to break the widget code, I continued to evolve solutions with various ActionScript, CSS, and HTML hackery.
During this time period, I also spearheaded an initial SEO campaign, integrating sitemaps, content, and URL optimization.
