In summer 2008 I launched Business Marketing Online Ltd, which aims to help UK-based industrial companies make the most of internet marketing. * Complete website rebuilds
* Blog setup with email, RSS and Twitter feeds, inc. training
* Complete Google AdWords campaign operation at fixed cost-per-click
* No-risk Sales Lead Generation
* Online advertising management - let us deal with all the sales reps!
* Content creation for your website using leading technical writers
* Ongoing Search Engine Optimisation for your website
My background seems to have led inexorably towards this position.
After training as a Manufacturing Engineer at Loughborough University and Marconi Communication Systems, in 1986 I diverted into the world of technical publishing, firstly at B2B magazine publisher Morgan-Grampian, then joining the much smaller publisher Hanover Press in 1988 as the launch editor of a new title, Industrial Technology, which I continued to edit for the next 12 years. During this time we took the magazine from being a little-known outsider to become the most commercially successful title in its market.
By 1999 I saw that the writing was on the wall for "product news" magazines. I left to set up Pro-Talk, the UK engineering sector's first online-only publishing company. Starting with Engineeringtalk, we created a series of email newsletters and news web sites which grew to a dozen by 2006.
With our resources for expansion stretched, we then sold the company to Centaur Media. I remained on the team there until May 2008, overseeing the successful transfer of the business.
