TechBridgeWorld is a wonderful global nonprofit organization that was started at Carnegie Mellon to bring needed technology to developing areas of the world. It's not technology for it's own sake, but rather is the technology that the community itself is crying out for (for example, we created an inexpensive Braille Tutor that enables the blind in Third World countries to be an integral and contributing part of their communities). Please see our web site (www.techbridgeworld.org) to learn more or, even better, to explore ways help us.

Using the graduate school coursework we teach at Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College as the foundation, my CMU colleague Ed Barr and I started Linchpin Learning to help executives and managers learn leadership communications techniques and apply them to their businesses. We focus strategically on how to consistently communicate for action, and tactically on everything from how to write more productive email to how to better lead meetings and presentations to how to better use virtual communications. Over 1,000 executives have gone through one or more of the Linchpin classroom, online or Second Life courses.

I teach communications, strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Masters in Information Systems Management program in the Heinz College. My research interests are in virtual communication (Second Life, THOLOS, etc.), how forms of electronic engagement apply to different audiences (social networking, The Humanoid Project, etc.), and on how future technologies (such as tele-immersion) will impact the dynamics of workforce communication.

I sit on the Board of Directors Marketing Committee for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. This is one of the best natural history museums in the world, and if you live in or visit Pittsburgh, you should make it a point to get there.

I've known (and been an advisor to) Abu Noaman and the folks at Elliance for a long time and think that they are some of the brightest, most creative, and most expert eMarketers, web developers, and search engine marketing pros around.
