Creative Social Media Strategist & Coach
San Francisco Bay Area
Chris Heuer has been engaged in interactive communications since 1993, and launched his first agency, Guru Communications, out of South Beach, Florida in 1994. Over the years he has helped numerous startups with go-to market strategies, product design, web site development, online marketing campaigns, ecommerce and what is now widely referred to as Social Media.
Seeing similarities between the rise of the Web as a vital communications technology and the current rise of Social Media, Chris formed Social Media Club in March, 2006 to help more people understand the greater significance of what it means to be social and how media production/consumption has changed. To this end, Social Media Club is promoting media literacy, encouraging the sharing of lessons learned, promoting industry standards such as Creative Commons and discussing questions of ethics.
More recently, Chris organized AdHocnium, a team of "Creative Catalysts" from around the world who educate agencies and their clients and partner to develop social engagement strategies that deliver creative impact, brand preference AND measurable ROI.
In addition to his direct endeavors, he serves as an advisory board member for Buzzlogic, You2Gov and SMtv. He is a frequent speaker, workshop leader and a trained facilitator and has organized numerous unconferences for the community and private organizations of all sizes.
Chris graduated from American University in 1991 with an interdisciplinary degree in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government.

I formed AdHocnium as the next generation innovation, change management and creative agency - leveraging Social Media and Web 2.0 insights to accelerate our client's transformation and innovation initiatives. We are an ad-hoc agency, or an un-agency, with no physical offices, but with a global presence currently in Europe, the United States and Israel.
By bringing together the best and brightest talent from around the world, who are each working independently on their own projects and companies, we are much stronger together then we are on our own. We form ad-hoc teams for each of our clients based on their unique needs rather than how a typical agency provisions talent based on who they have hired for their firm.
I work with a number of clients as a consultant helping them understand social media, providing: executive education programs; creative ideas for campaigns; global social media strategies; social media program reviews/analysis; and community engagement programs.

As a partner with The Conversation Group, I helped clients understand their roles in the market, establish programs for listening to what people have to say, identify key influencers, develop connections with the communities that matter, design programs for building persistent relationships and develop campaigns that made it all work together. Communications today is more then just pushing messages out at people, it is about listening and building relationships based on trust. Success comes from leveraging sociology together with a practical understanding of technology. With the right creative you can reach the right people with the right stories that will result in success. I worked across the broad spectrum of marketing, public relations, customer service, product development, social media strategy and internal communications. Some of the companies I helped include Grazr, Utterz, Intel, Sandisk, Elephant Pharmacy, SAP, Autonomy, Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid, and others.

Originally founded as infoapps.com, launching in April of 2000 to the sound of the bubble popping and no funding prospects to build the business into the world's pre-eminent source for infomation appliances. In mid-2000, we began to apply my understanding of holistic business strategy to enterprise communications software, developing a J2EE business to business platform with numerous sub-modules to meet the needs of technology companies. The Conversal Communications System supports Channel/Reseller Programs, Partner Programs, and Membership Programs (such as Developer, Loyalty and Promotional Programs). The real beauty of the software is that it enables a company to adopt best practices in web communications with limited resources and a low overhead including personalized content, HTML email newsletters, registration database, secure access to restricted content, document management/sharing and much more).

Applying my holistic insytes to solving several fundamental problems with the knowledge economy and how all knowledge workers can most benefit from technology. This principally involves an understanding of how the emerging aspects of Web 2.1 can be integrated in an easy to use manner. Areas of interest include blogs (which is really a fad), WIKI's, social networks, amateur content, elearning, media and much more. If you are interested in working in this space, lets talk soon...
