Visiting Researcher at Institute for the Future
San Francisco Bay Area
I am currently working with the Institute for the Future as a Visiting Researcher contributing to the Technology Horizons Program.
I worked with Adobe Systems for 10 years helping ensure the quality of major software & server releases. I acted as Senior QE Manager for Acrobat 3D & Rich Media delivering high-quality representations of CAD, 3D, AEC, & Flash content in PDF. I also designed & managed implementation of automation testing and dashboard analytic reporting for product areas. Previously, I was QE manager & community researcher for the Atmosphere 3D project, helping deliver Adobe's first seed project to 1.0 release. I have regularly contributed to the strategic direction of the Acrobat 3D manufacturing feature set, CS4 & CS5 solutions, as well as mobile, SaaS, and collaborative workflows.
My current interests are in social computing, mobile technologies, augmented reality, the Internet of Things, immersion & virtual worlds, brain-computer interface, building the semantic web, intentional civic planning, & dynamic data-sharing technologies that enable better communication & organization of collaborative & social networks & workflows. I am also actively tracking issues in geopolitics, the failure of the global economic paradigm, & the resulting call to local community resiliency, sustainability & self-reliance.
My primary research direction is in critical analysis of the emerging signals in technology & culture and how these trends express the adaptive requirements of the human species.
I've been a web user since 1993, a regular blogger for several years, am an early Twitter adopter, a web research power user, have been involved in many forums and social nets. I do research, scenario planning, strategic development, and can leverage trends, networks, & profiles to propagate ideas & extend brand penetration. I also produce music for various content streams and have a reasonable sense for design & aesthetics.
Systems analysis, forecasting, biomimicry, design/workflow solutions, social trends, emerging tech research & writing, competitive intelligence, marketing & social memetics, 3D graphics/rendering, 3D worlds, community development, coordination across diverse teams, diplomacy & influence, negotiation & sociopolitics, hiring/management, project/product/quality management, strong communication & teamwork skills, meeting schedules, driving milestones.
