25 years in broadcast news industry, with a focus on new technologies for news-gathering and for publishing to multiple platforms (TV and web).
In September 2008, I became the Director of Digital Content for E.W. Scripps Company's TV station group. From 2007-2008, I was News Director at WTVR-TV (CBS/Raycom) in Richmond, VA. Previous to that, from 1996-2007, I held various news leadership/management responsibilities at KDFW/FOX in Dallas, Texas.
From 2005 to 2007, I served on the board of directors for Radio Television News Directors Association, the leading organization of electronic journalists in the world.
I have taught journalism workshops for Radio Television News Directors Association and Foundation and the Poynter Institute. In 2002, I created the Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop, a one-day regional training seminar with prominent national instructors. Over the past 7 years, the SBNW has trained more than 700 journalists.
Building and rebuilding TV/web news organizations for audience growth, with a "multi-stream, publish-now" focus. Also leadership/management training and coaching. Additional focused expertise in severe weather and sports coverage. Experienced in major breaking news coverage and day-to-day and long-term enterprise story development.

2008 - WTVR is "Virginia's Most Honored Television Newsroom" - awards include RTNDA Edward R. Murrow regional award for Overall Excellence and two other Murrow Awards. Also numerous AP and Virginia Association of Broadcasters awards.
2005 - RTNDA Rob Downey Citation - for exceptional service to the RTNDA board of directors
2004 - Lone Star Emmy - Special Assignment Report. "Tornado Targets" was a computer-assisted semi-serious, semi-fun investigation into which North Texas cities were the most likely to experience a tornado.
