With more than 30 years experience in the PR arena, Cheryl Procter-Rogers is currently Vice President, Office of Public Relations and Communications, DePaul University, Chicago, IL.
Prior, she ran a Chicago-based, national public relations consulting practice, A Step Ahead Public Relations. She implemented strategies and counseled clients in the areas of crisis communications, integrated marketing communications, strategic planning, special events planning, internal communications and media relations.
She was the 2006 national president and chief executive officer of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Based in New York City, PRSA is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals and has more than 32,000 professional and student members.

Prior to resuming her consulting practice,she was at Home Box Office (HBO) where she was responsible for the development and implementation of PR and communications strategies across 11 states in the Midwest. Prior to HBO, she worked as a PR consultant in the Chicago area, where her clients included: Sears, Nissan, Allstate Insurance Co, McDonald’s, and HBO. Previously, she served Nielsen Marketing Research, Northbrook, IL., as director of public relations and advertising. Prior to Nielsen, she was president and owner of A STEP AHEAD public relations agency in Los Angeles, CA. Her clients included Kodak, The Jewish Federation Council of Greater LA, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Kaiser Permanente and Nissan. Before establishing her own PR agency, she served as manager of PR and advertising for Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Los Angeles. Prior she was technical writer and administrator for Sperry Univac in Chicago.
