Won two EPpy awards for best local site and best commercial product (for the online recruitment site). Also held positions on the Newspaper Association of America's online publishing advisory board.

Developed new business products for the San Jose Mercury News. Included supporting the launch of a consumer event, "The Electronic Learning Fair" which featured educational software and toys. Also trained the Mercury News ad sales team on to sell Internet advertising. Was part of the executive training program, which involved a four month rotation through every department at the newspaper.

Joined Monitor Company in their Cambridge office, then transferred to the new Amsterdam office in 1989. Cases included clients in: insurance, manufacturing, downstream petroleum, and transportation. Responsibilities included analysis of large consumer survey databases with SAS, competitive interviews and analysis, modeling competitive manufacturing outputs, and modeling cash flow impacts of strategic options.
